Anaesthetic Training at The Canberra Hospital

The ACT Regional Rotational Training Scheme is an accredited training program for the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA). Trainees within this Scheme are able to complete Introductory, Basic and Advanced Training in their entirety with ample access to specialised study units, volume of practice (cases and procedures), ANZCA Roles in Practice, and ANZCA Clinical Fundamentals.

A training position in this Scheme will involve placements at The Canberra Hospital (see About Us) and Calvary Hospital in Bruce. Trainees will also have the opportunity for a 6-12 month regional secondment to either Albury-Wodonga Health or Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.

There is a single selection process for registrar positions on the Rotational Training scheme. Positions are advertised on the ACT Health website in July each year for commencement in January of the following year. If positions become available mid-year, these positions will for advertised in May for commencement in August of the same year. Selection interviews are usually conducted in early September for short-listed candidates (or July for mid-year intake if applicable).

Applicants must have Australian citizenship or permanent residency status (this includes New Zealand citizens and permanent residents) or have an Australian working visa with current experience as a medical practitioner in Australia.
